Virtual Teaching - Skills for the Future, Panel Discussion | Learngage Knowledge Series
Virtual teaching demands a complex mix of skills which need to be constantly refined. With access to modern technology and teachers’ preparedness and experience in the new world will predict future success and demand in India. While many progressive schools are gearing up to teach effectively online, teaching in future needs teachers to upgrade their skills to engage their students more effectively in a virtual environment.
With a collection of such sharp and thoughtful panelists from some of the prestigious schools, we discussed insights from technology adaption to creative thinking and the impact on overall teacher-student engagement. While teaching in an online environment is similar to teaching in a traditional classroom: both require teachers to build relationships with students, give frequent (and meaningful) feedback, help students manage their time well, manage their own time well, and know when to step in and provide extra support for students as needed. The most important takeaway was the the approach teachers need to have to navigate a unique set of challenges and opportunities in this new digital class era.
